Sturgeon County Council approved Burning Bylaw 1375/16 on October 11, 2016, which will see fire permits carry through year round instead of their current schedule of April to October. Why the need for the change? Year-round permitting will make it easier to track where burning is occurring and enhance the safety of Sturgeon County residents.

Fire Ban – Sturgeon County
Effective 08:00 am, May 6, 2016; Sturgeon County has upgraded its fire restriction to a full FIRE BAN. Open burning of any type is prohibited, back yard fire pits and use of fireworks is prohibited. The ban does apply to Propane or Gas BBQ’s. The FIRE BAN will remain in effect until further notice. Sturgeon
